Psalm Fresh: Infinitus: A.d.i.d.a.m. & SaulPaul: A.d.i.d.a.m. Solo: Outreach/Residencies
"The reasons we brought in Psalm Fresh are: (1) For their diverse style of music, (2) How friendly they are with the audiences, (3) How they get more interaction than most of the groups we bring in." - The Hartford Symphony Orchestra
Psalm Fresh is a symphony remixed. Led by violinist/emcee John “A.d.i.d.a.m.” Littlejohn, this quintet consists of a classically-trained, hip-hop inspired string trio (Infinitus), a drummer/vocalist/emcee, and a dj/emcee. By combining hip-hop with classical, Latin, jazz, and middle eastern music they produce a rich, new sound and an exciting, highly interactive audience experience. The concert is divided into two sections, “Unplugged” and “Amped.”
"Unplugged" is an acoustic set which showcases the diverse abilities of the group without effects. The use of vocal percussion (beat-boxing), acoustic strings, freestyles, and audience interaction provides an easy introduction to hip-hop for unfamiliar audience members, and a unique experience for hip-hop fans. In the "Amped" portion, Psalm Fresh “plugs-in” for this exciting set. By adding a loop station and turntable to the acoustic set-up, they create a symphony of sound with five people. Musical selections include fresh versions of popular songs, blazing originals, and live audience sampling.
This show requires a P.A. system and is perfect for medium to large venues (concert/recital halls, churches, festivals, clubs, etc.)
“Consisting of gifted musicians from Canada and the U.S., [Infinitus] presented a mix of classical, jazz, latin, and hip-hop music to the great delight of island audiences, both in the schools and at two concerts sponsored by the QCI Arts Council…and were given a standing ovation.” – The Queen Charlotte Arts Council
Infinitus is a string trio known for their unique sound and upbeat performance style. Program includes original compositions, live audience sampling, a “Symphony of Two” (created by using violin, loop-station, and dj booth), and live freestyles/improvisations.
This show requires a P.A. system and is perfect for small to medium-sized venues.
“Littlejohn seamlessly blends his classical violin with modern programming and instrumentation…the combination works every time.” – Music Monthly Magazine.
A.d.i.d.a.m.'s solo show is a combination of purely classical works for solo violin, original compositions, and a “Symphony of One” created by using a loop station. This show is perfect for small venues (Recital Halls, Museums, Music Shops, Coffee Shops, Libraries, etc.) and easily complimented with live art, literature/poetry, and dance.
"This was one of the best performances I have ever seen. As the group
began to play, it was clear that they were concert hall quality and that
all of us were receiving a rare treat. The group was personable, informative and fun. They engaged the
children immediately and their attention remained for the entire performance. The questions the children asked demonstrated their high level of interest in the group's performance." - Lorri, Redfish Elementary School teacher (British Columbia)
"[Psalm Fresh] made a big impact on the students here." - The Connecticut Juvenile Training School (Detention Center)
A.d.i.d.a.m., Psalm Fresh, and Infinitus all have a passion for outreach. They have performed in schools, correctional facilities (juvenile and adult), Native reserves, nursing homes and hospitals. Programming is aimed at being interactive, enjoyable, educational, and inspiring. They are also available for seminars, workshops, masterclasses, and fundraisers.
How is your local music scene? Thriving? Dying? Either way, you should invite Psalm Fresh to your town/school for a residency. Possibilities include community performances, outreach, seminars, workshops, etc.
